Summer is distracting. Lots to do and work in before the snow starts to fly and we’re all holed in our houses like a scene from The Shining. That’s probably when I’ll commence my podcasts again. Winters are long here. Good thing I enjoy that fact (up until the end of March that is)
I’ve opened a store over on Etsy. This is yet another one of my grand experiments. I’ll be adding more, including some older pcs of work that need to find a home. Speaking of grand experiments, I also have started adding some additional products which features my art if you’d like to do something with it other than look at it. I’ll keep adding items over there too so stay tuned. If you have a special request for something, drop me a line! I’ve also been listing more art cards over on ebay and have updated my redbubble offerings too. All new art can be seen over in my portfolio/ArtiMake section for the curious. Even got ultra fancy and added some quick direct icons and ads to these places on my site as well.
Band practice has been keeping me mighty busy lately. Since Butterfly Museum wasn’t cutting the mustard we now have a new and official name to announce. We will now be known as French 76. We’ve been working on our set for the August 15th amphitheater gig with The Capitola and along with other, have been working on my tune If I Told You. Kenn (bass, mandolin, drummer, sound-man extraordinaire) grabbed a room recording of it and I’m super stoked at how much life it now has thanks to the French 76’rs!
NEW MP3: If I Told You
In other non-art news, I’ve been gathering the bounty from my crops lately and the process of canning has begun. The mosquitoes have been brutal and don’t seem to care one iota that I have layers upon layers of deet covering me and probably shortening my life in ways I can’t yet comprehend. But despite that, I still enjoy smelling the tomatoes and the tomato plants while I’m out there. There’s just nothing like it. Here’s some pics of the progress thus far. Enjoy!

There’s just no stopping them!

Please come out and join us over at The Capitola Review at the Crossroads Coffeehouse this Saturday (tomorrow) for another lovely afternoon of poetry and music. We have two new members who have joined the music portion of the presentation: my dear friends Jenny Green (vocals, guitar) and Kenn Busch (bass, mandolin and soundman extraordinaire). We have a set of brand new tunes to offer up tomorrow, sprinkled in amongst some amazing writers reading their poetry, so please come out if you can. As always, we would love to see you.
Kenn was kind enough to record a new rendition of my tune “Used To Be”. Mark, Jenny and Kenn have done an amazing job with this tune. As a teaser for the show, I have posted it here for your listening pleasure. Among others, we’ll be doing this tune tomorrow at the show. Hope to see you there!

Well summer’s in full swing, the 4th of July is tomorrow, my garden is coming along nicely and I continue to procrastinate on my podcast not to mention blog posts, art updates and song updates. Sorry about that, but that’s the way the cookie crumbles in summer. I have a love hate relationship with summer (the sun, heat and humidity can be yucky for me) – but lately the weather has been fantastic and I’ve been taking full advantage of it. My favorite place lately is the riverfront, but I’ve also been pretty obsessive about my garden this year too.

I really can’t convey how much I need to be near water.

It’s been a tad too long in-between my blog posts not to mention my podcasts. My sincere apologies for those of you that come here and enjoy those items from me. I blame this past month’s Mercury in Retrograde which isn’t officially over until May 28th. Supposedly. I don’t care if people think it’s hooey or not, but what I do know is that April and May were a tad dicey for me which coincidentally fell inside Merc’s dates. In amongst holding on for dear life and hoping the cruel nature of retro merc would (will) finally end, I have been busy making things and planting things and rehearsing with my musical peeps so it hasn’t all been for naught.

Tonight, The Capitola is having the spring issue launch party and we’d love to see you there if you can make it out. As always it will be a great evening of poetry, art and music. I am of course greatly looking forward to it. Along with the many readers we have planned for the eveing, Mark Miskelly and I will be performing a couple tunes here and there as well.
