And we didn’t drown.
Believe it or not, these are questions I have been asked, so I thought I would put to rest any terrifying suspicions of my whereabouts.
This summer I have been up to few things. Making lots of art, writing like a fiend, and most recently, setting up my home recording studio to lay down some tasty shakes and quakes.
Perhaps some of you are unaware, or maybe you are, that I have been in a band for eight years.
Unfortunately we haven’t been playing out for a while now, which I’ll be honest is completely depressing for me, as I really like to be up there. But I’m not going to dwell in that dark corner right now. Professor-You-Suck has apparently taken a summer holiday because without his meddling, I have been in a really positive state of mind and on a rare roll lately.
Speaking of inspiration, my dear friend Morgyn: Made. My. Day. by sending me a link to her Etsy store displaying her kick-ass’d artwork and a piece she did of me during Sweet Jelly’s “touring” hay day. It’s kind of surreal seeing your “stage persona” made into a work of art like something you would see in the Rock and Hall of Fame. She’s amazing! Buy her pieces!
Thank you Morgyn. I needed that pick-me up fantasy.
I also got additional inspiration from a movie I stumbled upon over the weekend entitled La Vie En Rose about real life singer Edith Piaf. Her life was incredibly heartbreaking throughout, but she persevered. And this actress does an AMAZING job! Spot on!

A little clip of the actress singing this tremendous song which I will confess readily made me (shhhhh) cry. The little bridge is just heartbreakingly delicate. I could live in that for quite a while.
All the woman wanted to do was sing onstage and went to great lengths to do so.

I feel I am finishing up what seems to be a somewhat lengthy hiatus of being lost inside my creative life. I guess you could call it more of a draught especially if you consider “inspiration” part of a creative rain cycle.
As a result, I have been finding inspiration in unlikely places these days.
And if someone would have told me that my first post for the launch of my new website would be about Neil Diamond, I would have laughed and said “yah ok, seeyah at the quiet hospital!"
