Beauty in Rubbish

Today on my stroll I was struck by the brilliant color across the land. Perhaps the humidity is low, maybe its always like this, maybe I was slipped some shrooms, I don’t know, but all colors were shockingly vibrant and I had to take some pictures of it.

I think the people driving by thought I was “simple”, while I was looking at this dumpster, then later taking pictures of it, but I think it is hard to argue about how crazy colorful it all is. You have the blue sky, the bright green trees and then this pristine red dumpster. Never mind the little yellow flowers that were hiding in amongst everything.

I am stocking up on these sights now before winter and its gray blanket comes to cover us.

Totally agree. It’s the sky, that blue, utter summer. Was hard for me not to stare at the sumac by the highway on my way home. Again, the colours. Plus sumac is incredibly beautiful in every season and totally a part of the season. Ya know? Imagining how I would do a reduction linocut from it.

I remember one summer you visited and we walked to the farmer’s market- there was a sail boat with yellow and red stripes, brilliant.

I REMEMBER THAT TOO MO! That was such a fun time...let’s take pictures next time at the end of September, cool? smile

So glad you had a staring moment too today. It was brilliant. And you know too how it is when you get so wrapped up in how you could possibly capture or duplicate what you are seeing and experiencing in a piece of artwork.

A maddening challenge, but worth the focus.

It was fun. Totally worth the focus. I could do the sumac in three colours EASILY. Light green for all, including that flower whatever thing, then chip some away and do darker green. The leaves have this really cool pattern to them. Them chip the rest away and do the burnt red flower whatever things.

Maybe also that blue sky, or a little black. But I’d like to see those three colours. We’ll see. I’m working on a “Little Miss Muffet” linocut and of course there’s all the wedding favour ones, but it was starting to feel forced so I started Miss Muffet by letting myself do whatever I want. That will get the focus back oui?

Time for bed, good-night.
