Death, taxes, and a new painting

It might not appear to be, but this painting put up a big fight. I was quite close to tossing it out the window at many points. I worked a little larger this time with this one, so maybe that was the issue. Guess its not important now that it’s done. This one is 6” x 12”.

I’m not sure if people want me to explain my pieces or not. I always enjoy hearing people’s renditions of what they think is going on in them, and often times I hate spoiling their vision with what was REALLY going on in my mind when I created them. AND, sometimes other people’s renditions are way more fascinating than what I was aiming for.

For this one, I may leave it up to the viewer to discern. Although I will point out that the blue-gray birds atop the radios represent monotony and the lady’s heart is quite simply – somewhere else.

Ok this is about a couple. The husband left the door open when he went out to grill veggie kabobs and birds flew in the house. Wanting the harmony of a peaceful happy day to continue he told his lovely wife that the birds weren’t in the house and she was imagining things. The wife decided to direct her attention elsewhere so as not to feel crazy. The birds on the other hand lost some self confidence when she refused to listen and watch them as they took it for lack of interest.

Mmmmmm, I like your story.

But that’s not it.

Not even close.
